This client wanted a way to improve a small sloped area of the yard that saw a lot of run off, wasn't growing grass and was generally an eye sore. We removed the sparse grass and moss, followed the existing areas where run off naturally flowed, digging down to create a more defined flow area, and filling those spaces with river rock, ending in a dry pond at the bottom of the slope, where water is directed out and away from the rest of the lower yard. We installed several plants on the hill that are moisture and shade tolerant including cardinal flowers, anemone, ferns, hosta, and sedums.
